chef de cuisine

Nominated for Best Chef Southeast in 2008 by the James Beard Foundation, Chef Houser's passion for cooking began in childhood, inspired by his grandparents' garden. With over 25 years of experience, he has trained under renowned chefs in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and Charleston, including time at Michelin-starred restaurants Le Bernardin, Daniel, Tru, and Topolobampo. His most significant influence was as Sous Chef at Charleston Grill under Chefs Bob Waggoner and Michelle Weaver.

In 2007, Houser became Executive Chef at Muse in Charleston, focusing on bold flavors and fresh ingredients. He expanded his culinary pursuits in 2009 by opening Meathouse at the Charleston Farmer’s Market, specializing in artisanal meats, and later Meathouse Butcher Shop, emphasizing whole animal butchery and charcuterie.

For the past five years, Houser has worked as a private chef and caterer, creating personalized menus and providing exceptional service for various events, from intimate dinners to large celebrations. He believes great food should enhance any occasion and be tailored to the customer's preferences.
